Duolingo Esperanto Course Enters Beta

29th May 2015

Duolingo EsperantoThe Duolingo Esperanto course has now been released into the beta phase. During the beta phase feedback will be collected to improve the course.

What is Duolingo? Duolingo is a free gamified language learning tool. The lessons are presented as a skill tree somewhat similar to an RPG game’s skill tree. Each lesson is a talent to be gained such as: plurals, animals, colours etc.

Lessons involve:

  • Choosing the correct image for a word (flashcard)
  • Typing the correct translation of either an English or Esperanto sentence
  • Choosing all the correct possible translations from a list

Duolingo Esperanto Skill TreeAt the end of a lesson you will gain experience points (XP) & lingots. Lingots are special currency used to purchase extra features such as timed practice mode.

There is a graph with how many experience points you have earned each day to encourage you too keep practising. Each day you use Duolingo you will continue your streak. Keeping your streak going will encourage you to practice Esperanto everyday.

The Esperanto course will be added to the Duolingo app sometime in the future. For now you can use the website version on phone or tablet.
